I usually ridicule snow in films – it looks too unreal and doesn’t melt when it lands on the actor’s face. This snow does melt when it reaches the face, but it looks almost unreal – big, perfect snow flakes that slowly descend from the sky and make a thick, airy, duvet that looks incredibly soft and shimmering. Real snow is often more realistic than this – more damp and heavy and compact, but this fairytale snow has now covered the grounds for several weeks – without melting. It certainly adds a bit of magic – especially as an opening of a new year. I couldn’t resist letting my Pilot VP lie in all this softness for a little while when I was outdoors earlier today.
