the first rose

…of the new year. It felt like a very good  sign on the opening of 2010. A lovely, frozen, well preserved rose in the snow. Dry, feather light snow – fairytale snow. A poetic and magic moment. Singular and unexpected. I wish that 2010 will bring many such moments.

There is a poem by the Swedish poet Maria Wine that  came to my mind when I found the rose today (my fast translation):

If I am looking for roses

I find snow

If  I am looking for snow

I find roses

If I am not looking for anything

I find both roses and snow

Lovely! Just what is needed amid all this whiteness, a splash of glorious colour.

Thank you! I really like the contrast between the pristine, pure white and the intense dark pink rose.

Beautiful! Thanks for the rose, and for your kind comments on my blog.
