spring signs in the woodlands

Spring is almost here. Everything is coming alive again even if the snow still covers the ground. The snow is melting in the sun and the birds are singing. And – the light is here. I love the woodlands. The correct English translation is the Woodland Cemetery, but I prefer to call it the Woodlands – that captures the feel to it better. Poetic and ethereal. A graveyard that feels like a celebration of life and eternity – sounds like a paradox, but it is a hymn to life and those who have lived. Peace and hope. Beginning and end. Majesty and simplicity united.  I posted a couple of photos of Woodlands in the autumn here.

Your photographs are so beautiful! You ought to consider posting some of these at sizes for desktop images. By the way, I ordered yet another Stipula Suprema Grey Pelago, this time with a Fine 14k nib. I just love these pens.

Thank you! I’ll think about desktop sized images – I haven’t thought about it before.

I don’t know if I’m morbid but I have a soft spot for graveyards. The older they are the more peaceful and I can’t think of anywhere else with so many stories rising up out of the ground. This spot you photographed shows that well.

I don’t think that a soft spot for graveyards is necessarily a sign of being morbid. :) There is a peace and tranquillity – just like in a church. And – just as you write – a lot of stories and fates put to rest there.
