lovely lilacs

The lilacs are breaking out. Their scent can be felt almost everywhere since it is one of the most common garden bushes around Sweden.Everywhere lilacs in different stages of bloom. Lilacs is the end of the spring semester, the beginning of the summer holidays and the flower all primary school teachers are blessed with by their children on the last day of the semester. Small, small flowers that together create festive, generous purplish racemes. The nature is surely having a feast at the moment and the lilacs may be the late spring/early summer queens. The summer is almost here.  Just a few days to go till it is June – not as transforming as May, but a continued luscious and blooming feast.

pretty in pink

I was violently obsessed with pink from childhood until my early teens. Pretty in Pink was the favourite movie and Molly Ringwald the unrivalled heroine. Since this obsession was so thorough and passionate I haven’t been able to appreciate pink since. I don’t know how many times my mum have tried to sweet talk me into wearing pink – “couldn’t you just consider scarves or a tee – pink goes so well with your colours”. She spoke in vain for a long time; hoping to convince me that me+pink is a dashing combination. But even I must admit that – even though I have a hard time believing that I’ll ever paint a room in any shade of pink or long for pink curtains or furniture or pillows or wear pink scarves or jumpers – pink cherry blossoms are beautiful. And I must confess that I like other pink flowers as well…and some pink inks…and piglets.
