pelikan 100 N – a new friend

The Pelikan 100 N is a pen I’ve wanted for quite some time. I’ve spent a lot of time drooling over the PENguins gallery with vintage Pelikans, but haven’t considered myself wealthy enough to pull the trigger. But, I recently happened to find this pen for a bargain price. The pics were rather bad, but for the price I was prepared to buy a 100/100 N in even a very bad and worn condition. I turned out to be very lucky. The pen is – as you can see – patterned in marbled grey instead of the standard green. The pics were so bad that I actually thought it was a the green marbled version I’d bought. The finish is in very good condition – it looks like it has been very well cared for – and the nib is a lovely, flexy, medium. Not a wet noodle, but not just springy. A perfect pen for letters and journalling. The only problem is that its piston needs to be repaired, but right now I’m happy to dip it to write with it – I don’t want to send it quite yet. This is an extremely nice pen and I think it is a pity that the design isn’t made anymore – except for the LE that Pelikan made a few years ago. It is a special and beautiful design with its domed cap and the simple, plain nib. I already (after just a few hours) believe that this will be one of the very few pens I can’t see myself getting rid of. A gem. A real review will follow later when the piston is put back into order and I have used it for some time.

frosty iron oxide

A few shots from my long walk today. A cold, crisp day. The parish has three churches. One from the 12th/13th century and two from the 20th century. This was built around 1950 and I do think they managed to make a modern church in a classic style that is timeless – uniting tradition and modernity. After walking by this church I walked up to my other favourite place and thought a little about the huge amount of time (at least in a human perspective) that has passed between the building of the first church here and this second church.
