…was lit today.  Two more candles and 18 days until it is Christmas Eve.

no XXIV & XXV and pig iron

Wind vanes from the top of a bell tower (annex) of a church in an iron works village (above) and from the top of the stable of the iron works (below). This particular iron works originates from the end of the 16th century. The whole iron works and surrounding buildings (smithy, mansion, stables, ware houses) was burned – Sweden was at war with Russia- by the Russians in its entirety 1719, since it was one of the corner pillars in the defence industry at the time.

It was rapidly rebuilt in very short time  and it kept its position as one of Europes biggest iron works until the end of the 19th century.
